How It All Began
At Riskipankki, we repeatedly encountered the same problem: SMEs wanted to manage their risks systematically, but implementing risk management according to the ISO 31000 standard felt complex, heavy, and sometimes impossible. Something clearer and more practical was needed.
Ilkka Sillanpää and Henrik Salmela decided to take action. Ilkka brought extensive experience in building management systems and risk management processes across various industries. Henrik contributed software development expertise and a fresh perspective on how digitalizing risk management could truly simplify daily routines. They aimed to combine expert knowledge and software into a clear solution tailored for SMEs.
Joining them was Toni Järveläinen, who had long helped companies develop sales and customer relationships. Toni understood the critical role systematic risk management plays in a company’s competitiveness – and how, when done right, it can support strategic decision-making.
Together, we created Riskipankki: a service where an expert walks alongside you, software supports your needs, and risk management is built around your everyday realities. The initial versions were developed closely with pilot customers from various sectors. This early collaboration ensured the solution meets real needs and suits a wide range of SMEs.
